We receive a lot of calls and emails from the public asking; "Will people know about my IVA?".
An Individual Voluntary Arrangement, (IVA) is a private arrangement between a debtor and the creditors. The general public will not know about the IVA because an IVA is a private matter.
Unlike bankruptcy an IVA will not be advertised in a newspaper so not only your chosen few will know about your IVA. Other people will not know about your IVA unless you choose to tell them.
An IVA, however, is registered and this may be picked up by credit reference agencies who will note your IVA on your credit reference file.
One of the main advantages of an IVA is it not a public matter, so your name will not appear in the newspaper. This is one reason why the IVA procedure has become so popular. Remember an IVA is a private legally binding agreement between you and your creditors and as a result is not advertised.
