Any individual who is insolvent and is living in the UK or has been domiciled in the UK within the last 3 years can enter into an IVA.
Money Advice Direct receives calls and emails from thousands of people across the UK have used an IVA (Individual Voluntary Arrangement) to clear their debts and have thanked us. But how do you know if you can enter into an IVA?
An IVA can help anyone who is experiencing debt problems - particularly those who own property which they would risk losing if they were to be made bankrupt.
An IVA might benefit you if:
- You owe money to people or companies that will not agree to an informal debt management arrangement
- You have already tried an informal arrangement, but it has failed.
- You owe money to so many creditors that an informal debt management arrangement would be impractical
- You are facing possible bankruptcy, or you have already been made bankrupt and you want to reverse the situation
You can enter into an IVA if:
- You owe over £15,000
- Your owe to three or more different creditors
- Your can afford at least £200 out of your disposable income
