As the government looks to improve the asylum seeker process, they must use this opportunity to end this inhumane system now of allowing bank accounts and banking facilities, and offer asylum seekers alternative access to money. Though levels of support from banks is still low to asylum seekers a simple banking account system would give them the freedom to spend their money as they wished, while allowing them to live in dignity until they can return home.
